Remake Watch: Fritz Lang's Metropolis

Oh, but it's true, according to this Variety report. Hallowed ground will finally be desecrated! Perhaps I'm being over-dramatic here, but wouldn't you be concerned when the remake of this most influential sci-fi epic will be handled by the producer Thomas Schuehly, who produced Oliver Stone's Alexander (and also The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen and The Name Of The Rose, so he's kind of used to moving in classic circles)?

That Variety report also mentions Werner Herzog's 1979 remake of Nosferatu, as if that's providing Panadol for a headache. Unless, of course, they get Herzog on board for Metropolis!

Now, wouldn't that be something?
